Hardcover. xvi, 654p. hardcover, very good, in an edgeworn dust jacket with some chipping at the corners; inscribed by the author: "To Julia & Paul - With many happy memories & great affection. CDB." "Child" has been added above in pen. Cora Du Bois, one of the leading anthropologists of the first half of the 20th century, had met Julia McWilliams when they were both posted in Kandy, Sri Lanka, while working for the OSS during World War II. Julia married Paul Child, another of their colleagues at Kandy, and she of course went on to become a famous chef.
