Contemrporary owner signature and date to front free endpaper.. Octavo in red half-calf and marbled paper; gilt to spine; 344 pages; 18 cm. In French. Handsomely bound. A novel of life among the Breton fisherfolk, called Pacheur d'Islande (translated as: An Iceland Fisherman), which Edmund Gosse characterized as "the most popular and finest of all his writings."
