Bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear with rubbed corners and spine tips; small stain/spot on front fore edge of the text block. 8vo; 8.75 inches tall; 408 pages. 4th Edition, originally published in 1852.. A tale of London life in the mid-Victorian era focusing on street life in the manner of Lamb and Dickens. The expressed goal of this book is to "write a truthful account of the miseries of criminal life" (from the preface).
