About This Item
London: Academy Editions, 1980. Boards. Light shelfwear. Very good. 4to. 128pp., introductory essay, b/w and color illustrations and photographs, list of plates, exhibition lists. A unique collaboration between artist Wunderlich and photographer Szekessy, who were married to each other. In these 'transpositions,' intriguing nude photographs by Szekessy are juxtaposed with Wunderlich's versions, or replies, in the form of paintings and prints. The result is a fascinating dialogue. Raddatz's introduction and some contextual and art historical references enrich the experience. He writes, 'The sum of history is a catastrophe. A picture of melancholy' - and quotes Walter Benjamin: 'That which we call progess is this storm.' Published in German as PaulWunderlich und Karin Szekessy / Correspondence. Please note: Oversized volume: this book will require additional shipping for destinations outside the US. Please write for details; we will ship at cost.
