Originally published in Great Britain by Reaktion Books, this is the first American edition with full numberline published the same year. Dust jacket spine is faded. Paul Delaroche: History Painted examines the artist's career from his earliest history paintings to his later, more experimental works that were influenced by photography. Bann's volume also offers the first detailed analysis of Delaroche's major works in teh context of the visual culture of the early nineteenth century.
