Random House, 1962. First Edition. Leather Binding. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Presentation copy in a presentation binding. Signed and inscribed by author Walter Farley of 'Black Stallion' fame to Patricia and Elliott Roosevelt (son and daughter-in-law of FDR and Eleanor): 'For Patty and Elliott - wih my thanks for making my stay at the horse show so enjoyable - and I do hope you like this 'big book' as much as you say you did 'The Black Stallion'. All my best Walter Farley Oct. '69 Venice, Fla.' The Roosevelt's were noted horse-lovers. This copy is in a presentation binding (as given by Farley) of 3/4 red calf over pebbled cloth, spine with raised bands and gilt floral tooling within gilt-bordered compartments (light rubbing). 'Man o'War' is Farley's semi-fictional account of the great race horse, considered by many to be the greatest of all time.Illustrated By Angie Draper.
