About This Item
Outline of Modern Belief: Modern Science, Modern Thought, Religious Thought, edited by J.W.N. Sullivan and Walter Grierson (The Enquiring Layman), 3-Volume Set.
Hardback, circa 1934, many illustrations in black and white and colour, published by George Newnes Limited, London.
A nice set, richly illustrated and informative about various religious, scientific and philosophical matters.
Each volume measures 10" by 7.5". Patterned cloth boards. Gilt lettering to spines. Boards and spines are scuffed and marked, spines especially, which are also a bit discoloured but overall binding has retained much of its colouring. Signs of rubbing and shelf-wear, especially to spines. Some tearing to tops of spines of volumes 2 and 3, whilst volume 1 is split along the outer rear hinge. Other hinges, outer and inner, intact. Corners bumped and a little worn. Binding firm. Page edges a little browned but reasonably clean. Some pencil underlining and marginalia, etc. throughout. See pictures for further information.
