Chicago: A. D. Worthington and Company, 1883. Second edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Presumed second edition (copyright date is 1882), very good in the original brown cloth with gilt lettering and designs. Front hinge is tape repaired, but still holding together. Two different owner names on second (blank) front endpaper. Spine is somewhat sun faded but still legible, with wear at the top edge and a small tear at the top of the rear gutter. Complete with no marks in the text; all plates are present (including 6 chromoliograph color plates with tissue guard). One page (629/630) is missing about one quarter of the text. Introduction by William T. Sherman, who Dodge served under.
