[New York: Rapho-Guillumette, 1956. One large borderless gelatin silver print original film candid production still with the photographer's ink-stamp credit to verso, 13.25 x 10.25 in. (34.25 x 26.25 cm) depicting James Dean in character as "Jett Rink" from the film Giant, having a laugh with his director, George Stevens. Very good or better. 

Sanford Roth (1906-1962) was an internationally renowned photographer whose work has appeared in many publications including: Time, Life, Look, Fortune, Paris-Match, Elle, Der Stern, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. His photographs of James Dean still appear regularly in books, magazines and other works all over the world. His work has been exhibited at the Museum Of Modern Art, New York, Chicago Art Institute, Los Angeles County Museum Of Art and San Francisco Museum Of Fine Arts, amongst others. Roth first met James Dean on the set of Giant and they immediately became friends. Dean often visited the Roth's at home; poignantly, Roth was in the car behind James Dean when he died and took the now-famous post-accident photographs.
