About This Item
New York and London: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1898. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. 1898 1st. ed. Original green cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Small 8vo. [2], xi, [1], 179, [1] 1 undated ad, [3] pp. Brough was a leading advocate against government efforts to insert itself into or regulate the banking industry, or to seek any form of control over the currency. One reviewer labeled Brough an "ultra-individualist" and indeed Brough is firmly in the 19th century tradition of classic economics and pure laissez-faire. Light foxing on endpapers and top edge a little dusty. Overall, a near fine copy.
