Baton Rouge: Louisiana State University Press, 1981. First Edition. wraps. Some separation of front cover of the fragile binding. Near Fine. Uncorrected Proof in red wraps of the poet's first novel. INSCRIBED to Stuart Wright, the publisher of Palaemon Press, with a four-line verse: "A Friend to the poor bard/whose lines lay here hard,/may he judge with mercy/and with pleasure leap." SIGNED by Smith in Gainesville, Florida in December 1981. Smith also adds a small ORIGINAL DRAWING, an apparent self-portrait, next to the inscription.
