An illustrated work on the history of English plate, a helpful guide to collectors with advice of the makers and marks of antique plate. The ninth edition of this work in the original cloth binding with gilt decoration to the front board. An informative work for collectors of antique plate, including historical information, plate makers and their marks, advice on the care for plate, and information on materials used. With 133 illustrations, and upwards of 2700 facsimiles of plate marks. The author, Wilfred Joseph Cripps, was a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London who published many articles on plate. In the original cloth binding. Externally smart, with just a little shelf wear to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is slightly strained. Internally, firmly bound. A scattering of spots to the frontispiece but otherwise pages are bright and clean. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
