Boston: Brown, Bazin, 1857. 12mo. 263 pp. Extra engraved title page and frontispiece. Original red cloth (rubbed, corners bumped), gilt title and decoration on spine; some foxing, but a very good copy. First edition. With an undated inscription by the author on the front endpaper: "Miss Lavinia E Jenkins / With the Respects of / William T. Adams." A prolific writer of boys' tales under several pseudonyms, Adams (1822-1897) published his first "Oliver Optic" title in 1853.
