About This Item
New York: Angel Hair Books, 1977. First Edition, First Printing.
Small Quarto (10 x 6 7/8 inches (255 x 175 mm), [112] pages, in illustrated wrappers (soft cover).
INSCRIBED on the front free end paper: "Ted Berrigan / For Ken + Anne / in NYC / 1981." Berrigan has also drawn a heart with the number 500 in it. The recipients were Ken and Ann Mikolowski, founders of the Alternative Press. For many years, the Alternative Press published broadsides and other printed material by subscription, including poems by Berrigan. A nice association. Cover art and frontispiece drawing of Berrigan by George Schneeman.
This is from an edition of 1,000 copies, 26 of which were signed by both Berrigan and Schneeman. As usual with Angel Hair Books, this was a fine collaboration between poet and artist, both important figures in the New York School.
CONDITION: Wrappers lightly rubbed, spot of whiteout to rear wrapper, couple small stains to fore-edge, slight bumps to corners and spine ends, light crease to front wrapper and a few subsequent pages. Interior clean and bright. Overall, a Very Good copy.
