London: John Snow, 1861. 548 pp. + 16 pp. publisher's catalogue. 8vo., blue cloth. Pencil ownership signatures on reverse of frontispiece. Very good: spine sunned, and lightly worn at heel and crown; faint dampstain to front board. Shelfwear, gently bumped corners. Interior very good with minimal foxing to title page, edges; color frontispiece has almost no foxing. B/w illustrations in the text. Samoa, the New Hebrides, New Caledonia. With large folding chart of Polynesian dialects.
