Part of Hutchinson's "Novella series,'' this is a "beautifully moulded" story set in wartime rural Ireland involving a young boy, an ailing local beauty, & a local cinema--"the Alexandra" that her husband builds for her & which the boy comes to own. In 71 pages, with haunting duotone illustrations throughout by English artist Paul Hogarth. A First Edition, first printing, from 1987, this hardcover octavo (6.25" x 9.50") has a quarter black cloth wrapped spine with red cloth covering the remaining boards, stamped in gilt to front & lettered in same to spine. Condition is Fine: completely bright & clean save for former owner's stamp to half title page. Binding straight & strong; pages white, NO writing or underlining or highlighting; not ex-lib.The unclipped DJ (with L7.95 price in pounds intact on lower front flap) is equally Fine: bright & colorful with NO wear or fading; nicely protected in new mylar cover free!
