About This Item

New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. c1959. First Edition; First Printing. 1/4 Cloth. First edition/firsting printing in Fine condition in Near Fine dust-jacket. From the collection of Betty Anderson, legendary art director of publisher Knopf in the late 20th century as evidenced by her (small and unobtrusive) inventory number and signature on the front paste down. This particular copy was the proof copy of Ms. Anderson, including annotations in her hand on the title page, suggesting to alter the page layout. An attractive association copy; The Night of the Hammer is the story of a small town in the middle of nowhere that is visited by a serial killer. The townspeople are unable to stop the killer and are left to deal with the aftermath.; 8vo .
