Examines the role of the New Brunswick militia, both from the time of "its origins in the first provincial militia act of 1787," and its place in a colonial society. This copy warmly inscribed by the author to his father, and comes with two laid-in photographs, both taken during the book's launching in November of 1990, at the Saint John Public Library in Saint John, New Brunswick. One shows the author and his father, the other the author with Rick Cummings of New Ireland Press, and Cathy Wilson of the New Brunswick Historical Society. 191 pages (including acknowledgements, notes, bibliography, index), illustrated.
