"The purpose of this three-volume work is to provide a handy guide to the countless Dutch and Flemish paintings that have survived from the 'Golden Age', and to establish criteria of style and subject-matter which will help to distinguish between the numerous masters." Each volume begins with bios and signatures of the associated artists, and then consists of an unpaginated section of BW plates from those artists.
