"The purpose of this three-volume work is to provide a handy guide to the countless Dutch and Flemish paintings that have survived from the 'Golden Age', and to establish criteria of style and subject-matter which will help to distinguish between the numerous masters." (dj) Artists are addressed in alpha order by surname. Volume I: Achtschellinck-Heda ; Volume II: Heem-Rombouts ; Volume III: Romeyn-Zyl. Each volume begins with bios and signatures of the associated artists, and then consists of an unpaginated section of BW plates from those artists.
