Good binding and cover. 4 preliminary leaves, xi-xvi, [2], 496 (i.e. 504) pages illustrations (including music) plates 23 cm. Shelfwear. Clean, unmarked pages. From the personal library of Vice Admiral Calvin Thornton Durgin Durgin served in the U.S. Navy from 1916 until 1951. He served as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Air in 1949. In WWII Durgin commanded the aircraft carrier, Ranger during an assault on Morocco and commanded a carrier group during the 1944 invasion of southern France. Durgin's book plate on front paste down. Durgin's name stamped in gold on front cover.
