About This Item
Frontis portrait Lord Taylor was the first President and Vice-Chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland from 1967 to 1973. He also laid the foundations of Medicare in Canada by his skillful negotiations to resolve the doctors' strike in Saskatchewan. After he retired from this position he became visiting professor of community medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
