Facsimile reprint of Dr. Jeffries' 1786 privately printed account of his two balloon trips in 1784 and 1785. The printed paper label on the front cover notes that this is the first book written by an American on aeronautics and describes the first aerial crossing of the English Channel. Anonymously written foreword and account of Dr. Jeffries' reception by French society prepared by his grandson from the aeronaut's diaries. Several illustrations.
