About This Item

London : George Allen & Unwin LTD, 1951. Hardcover. Good/Good. 130 pages. Book has minorfoxing on endpapers and a small stain/foxing? on page edges. Boards are a beautiful deep maroon with lovely brilliant light blue text on spine, it's very striking! Pages are age tanned and have a previous owner's name on inside front endpaper and some tidy, respectful underling throughout the book. Dust jacket has small pieces missing, small stains and pen marks and general wear and tear as it has appeared to have protected the book well all these years. The dust jacket is also price clipped. With a few exceptions, the treasures of Spanish mysticism have lain undiscovered for three centuries, their greatness unsuspected even in Spain itself. In the book Professor Allison Peers, translator of the Complete Works of St. Teresa of Jesus and St. John of the Cross, gives a general survey of the Golden Age of Spanish mysticism, following with translations of extracts from the fifteen leading authors in this field.
