About This Item
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1936. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 274 p. Born in El Paso, White (1879-1946) attracted national reputation as a muckraker and outspoken critic of corrupt politicians, especially those from Texas, while serving as an associate editor and staff writer with Collier's. In addition to this collection of childhood memories, he wrote eight books on the Lone Star State and related Southwestern topics, as well as two volumes of poetry. From the James S. Copley Library, with the San Diego newspaper publisher and philanthropist's bookplate to the front pastedown. Octavo. Original light green cloth binding, with dark green stamping. Internally crisp and clean. A few unobtrusive bits of tape from an old dust jacket protector to the pastedowns. Mild wear to the dust jacket, with a small chip to the front panel. An especially crisp and bright copy.
