Hardcover paper boards have a full picture pastedown on the front of children reading with their dog and cat. There is a great deal of wear along the bottom edge, an approximate 1" piece of paper missing from the front edge with some rubbing and blemishes. Rear board is worn along all the edges with a dictionary advertisement in the center. The spine has a brown cloth back strip with some wear to the top and bottom, blemishes along the bottom four inches, but for the age of the book (and a children's book) it is in very good condition with no fraying. All the corners are worn down to the cardboard. The spine has a slight slant at the top but hinges are firmly attached to the endpapers in the front but show signs of beginning to crack at the rear board. Text block is solid and all pages are firmly attached. Age tanning throughout and some pages have smudges. Previous owner name on front second blank page and on the rear free endpaper. The interior pages are clean with no tears, chips, creases or other previous owner marks. Each page (with a few exceptions) has an engraved illustration with a short one-page story. Some of the stories are titled but many are not.
