Frontispiece photograph of the author. 2 pages of photographs of the author, his sister, and his wife. Brown cloth hardcover with gilt title on the front cover and spine. Contents contain an account of Quantrell's raid in Lawrence, Kansas 1863. Author also writes about pioneer days in Indiana and Kansas, trading with the Indians, eloping to Kansas, business, railroads, and a new life in California in the 1890's. Illustrated bookplate (unsigned) on the front paste down.
