About This Item

New York: Donald I. Fine, 1987. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Good Plus/Very Good. Hall's second novel featuring Stanley Hastings, a nearly normal resident of the Big Apple who is trying hard not to be a private detective. But this time around it's a woman in his car pool who's kind of involved in pornography, blackmail and prostitution and is looking for a way out; bottom edge of front cover badly rubbed, o/w boards and text are clean, tight, square; dustjacket shows only minimal surface and edgewear.

Synopsis

Stanley Hastings, the New York private detective, is back in the swing of things. Playing it safe and toning down his investigations, however, doesn’t work for him because he is a trouble magnet. Stanley needs to help an apparently innocent housewife/call girl get out of the prostitution ring and retrieve a compromising video of her that is being held hostage by her pimp. Unfortunately, Stanley walks into the pimp’s apartment while a slaughter is in progress. To make matters worse, Stanley is the number-one suspect. Oh, what to do in this world of money, sex, and Murder!
