Previous owner's inscription on front endpaper, and a fascimile of Mark Twain's signature on the front free flyleaf; In 1835, Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, was born in Florida. He would go on to become one of the most famous and influential authors in American history. In this biography, Kaplan tells the story of Clemens's life and work, from his early days as a journalist and writer to his later years as a famous humorist and lecturer.; 8vo; 424 pages .
