About This Item

London: William Heinemann,, 1971. Finely bound reissue of this 1913 work, of which one contemporary reviewer noted that if Rackham's "present series of drawings illustrating Mother Goose had come before the public unheralded by the many successes he has already achieved, he would again have aroused the wonder and delight that we experienced when we first made his acquaintance" (Westminster Gazette, 28 Oct. 1913). Octavo (201 x 150 mm). Bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe in tan half morocco, raised bands, titles and decorations to compartments gilt, marbled sides, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. Colour frontispiece and 11 plates, line drawings throughout by Arthur Rackham. Bookseller's stamp on front pastedown. A fine copy.
