Very Good. 262 p., clean and unmarked; paper age-toned at edges; very beautifully rebound in half-leather with marbled boards, raised bands with gilt lettering and ornamentation. This is a Southern gothic novel set in the author's native Virginia, but written in French before being translated as Avarice House. Julien Green has the distinction of being the first American to be elected to the prestigious Academie Francaise.
