About This Item
Philadelphia: Lippincott, 1970. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. A near-fine copy in a very good plus dustjacket. This copy is signed and inscribed "With Best Wishes" by the author (although not inscribed) on the title page--a scarce signature. This is the author's highly regarded 3rd novel--highly praised by Graham Greene and winner of the Somerset Maugham Award for fiction. A deep perspective read about a Priest who asks to be relieved of his vows--only to find disenchantment and tragedy outside of the church. Previous owner one word name on half title page--or would be fine. The dustjacket is unclipped and has minor shelfwear rubbing on the panels--or would also be fine.
