Engaging World War II era story of how two young Iowa boys, with their mule named Missouri Canary, assisted the US Army in some stateside war practice along the Des Moines River. Illustrated throughout with Weise's drawings in both color and in black and white. Brightly colored illustrated hardcover with black cloth spine, red cover lettering, color frontis, seventy-eight pages, matching illustrated dustjacket. Illustrated in both color and black and white. The book is in very good condition with light conspicuous edgewear, including surface rubbing at its extreme cover edges, rubbed bottom right corners at front and rear, sound text block, good hinges, clean pages with no names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and is also in very good condition with heavily rubbed joints and chipped spine ends, minor additional edgewear. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
