This special copy has been lengthily inscribed and signed by the illustrator, James Marshall (Caldecott medalist and creator of the beloved George and Martha picture book series), directly on the front loose end page. Marshall has additionally sketched a portrait of the notorious substitute teacher, Viola Swamp, who remains one of the most iconic villains in the history of children's literature. The book is in near fine condition. No ownership marks/writing present within. Hinges tight, interior pages bright. Moderate bumping to the cover board extremities. Moderate edge wear/tear, rubbing, soiling to the dust jacket. Rare.
