About This Item
Mise-en-Scene No. 1 - American Film Issue was published by the Case Western Reserve University Film Society in Cleveland, Ohio. Its date of publication is not stated in the document, but is believed to be about 1970. Its purpose was "...to clarify relationships, establish appropriate contexts, and, in short, to suggest some of the attitudes and techniques that film directors have used in communicating their themes...".
The magazine contains 72 pages of illustrated articles dealing with the American film industry and the works of such directors as Alfred Hitchcock, Ernst Lubitsch, Fritz Lang, John Ford, Nathaniel West, Arthur Penn, and John Huston. The magazine is approximately 8 ½ x 11 inches and is bound in illustrated heavy paper covers. There is some very minor signs of wear on the upper corner of the front cover, but otherwise the magazine is in near fine condition.
The illustrations accompanying this description show the front cover, a 2-page spread showing the inside front cover and the Title page (which also contains the Table of Contents), and three (3) 2-page spreads showing typical pages of text and illustrations.
