GB: J. & R. Tonson, 1765. Full leather. Spine with raised bands. Covers have gold frames. Brown title labels and stamped volume numbers. There is a frontispiece in Volume 1 and 2 ONLY. There are NO ADDITIONAL PLATES but all medal illustrations are present. Each volume has a title page with an overall additional title page in Vol 1. Pagination (1) 40 and 312; (2) 4 and 360; (3) 8 and 360; (4) 12 and 348 and 8(index) and 4(ads). Some brown stains to edges of endpapers and first and last few leaves. All joints sound but hinges often cracked. Covers are well held. Fairly clean tight texts with some occasional dustiness. ?Contemporary armorial bookplate of Townley featuring their arms (Argent, on a fesse sable, a cinquefoil or, in chief three mullets of the second) in wreaths of flowers etc but not their name. From the library of Town Head House (Windermere). (in each volume). Book is in very good minus condition with minor but noticeable signs of wear and/or age. . . 1st Edition. Hardback. VG-/No DW.
