About This Item
Boston, MA: Porter E Sargent, 1914. First edition. Hardcover. VG+/Good-. Grey embossed paper-covered boards with white paper label on spine (extra label at rear of book) in chipped and cracked but mostly complete printed and illustrated dustjacket. (132) pp., with munted frontis and several other mounted plates. This copy quite notable as it is inscribed and presented to Horace Traubel (Wlat Whitman's literary executor, amongst a slew of other noteworthy features) by William F. Gable, a leading citizen and benefactor of Altoona, PA and very successful business owner, who was a literary aficionado. Laid-in at the front of this copy are various pieces of promotional literature for the book, including the stated limitation of this edition to 500 copies. A very nice copy.
