This text represents a manifold expansion and revision, both in socpe and content, of the earlier work entitled "Military Cryptanalysis, PArt II" by WIlliam F. Friedman. This extensive expansion and revision was necessitated by the considerable advancement made in the art since the publication of the previous text. The was originally published in 1959 as a classified text. When this was declassified it was expaned with computer programs written by Wayne G. Barker. The publisher described this as "probably the most comprehensive and one of the best books ever written concerning the intermediate phase of military cyrptanalytics. "
