Philadelphia: Lindsay and Blakiston, 1864.. viii,112pp. 16mo. Original cloth. Binding stained, head of spine chipped and damaged, front board detached with front free endpaper and half title. Ownership inscriptions and stamp on front free endpaper, light tanning and soiling to lower corner throughout. About good. Interesting war-time publication on poisons, intended to help physicians detect "symptoms due to the villainous administration of deadly drugs." Includes sections on arsenic, mercury, lead, vegetable and animal irritants, opium, chloroform, alcohol, narcotic gases, tobacco, hemlock, venomous and rabid animals, etc. According to the titlepage this Philadelphia edition is "From the last London edition."
