Young's profile of the House of Medici, who wielded great power in Florence and Tuscany starting in the 14th century through the early 18th century. With a preface by the author and extensive end notes. --- In Toledano spine #5 / full blue balloon cloth-covered limp boards / gilt titling and grapevine decorations on spine / blindstamped torchbearer device to front cover / dark topstain / orange Kent endpapers. Lacks the dust jacket. ML #179.1. --- Conspicuous sunning to spine has turned it to a shade of brown, with prior owner's signature (dated 1931) to front paste-down, small open tear to lower edge of title page and mild age-toning to leaves, else a tightly-bound, sound copy. Note: A weakened front hinge has been repaired on this item.; 16mo - 6 to 7 in. tall; xxi, [3], 824 pages .
