About This Item
New York: Random House, 1947. First. hardcover. Near fine.. Seuss, Dr.. This is the first edition, second state, with the fish's mouth closed on the front cover and four line copyright notice. Near fine condition. This first edition has the original material which resulted in the recent decision of the Seuss estate to cease further publication of the book. However, even the most censorial reader will be hard pressed to find anything in the book that could be considered objectionable, much less racist. Still, bound to be a collectible artifact forever for this artist, probably the most popular creator of illustrated children's books in history, at least based on books sold, read and reread, and enjoyed by children discovering the joy of reading.
