About This Item
xviii+468 pages with frontispiece, charts, plans, maps, diagrams, illustrations, bibliography and index. Oblong royal quarto (9" x 10") bound in original publisher's dark blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine and blue pictorial to cover in original pictorial jacket. Second printing. George Andrews' profusely illustrated book concerns the basic architectural forms and internal spatial relationships of prehistoric Maya cities. As a professor of architecture, he brings to bear the perspective of his discipline. His approach differs from the way archaeologists often contemplate these sites and it leaves us more aware of some underlying and quite sophisticated patters of arrangement at these complex centers. Condition: Jacket corners and spine ends rubbed else near fine in like jacket.
