About This Item
San Francisco: Black Panther Party, 1969. Poster. 17.5x21.75 inch poster, apparently untrimmed at left and right edges (register marks still visible), very good condition. An unusually clean example of this poster, from the library of a journalist/activist who was involved in the defense of Eldridge Cleaver (provenance available upon request). Poster announcing a May Day rally to demand that Huey Newton be granted release on bail. "Federal judge Alphonso J. Zirpoli has set May 1st for a hearing to make the Regan-Alioto power structure show why it will not release the Minister of Defense Huey P. Newton on bail, which Huey has a right to, while pending his appeal.
