About This Item
London: Macmillan, 1937. Leather. Near Fine. 7.5" by 5". None. The third book of the incredibly popular Jalna series. The Jalna series is a sixteen novel family saga about the Whiteoak family. Jalna, a city in west-central India, is the name of the manor house where the Whiteoaks live. The serial tells the story of over one hundred years of the Whiteoak family from 1854-1954 and the novels were not written in sequential order. The Master of Jalna is the tenth book chronologically. Mazo de la Roche found fame with her Jalna series as it was one of the most popular book series of her time. She had her first story published in Munsey's Magazine in 1902 but did not begin her writing career until after the death of her father. Her first two novels were romantic novels and gave her little income or recognition. The Jalna series has sold more than eleven million copies in 193 English and 92 foreign editions. In a half calf binding. Externally, very smart. Spine has faded slightly. Binder's stamp to verso of front endpaper, J A E Bumpus, 350 Oxford Street. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
