About This Item
Paris: C. C. P. Marie France, 1957. 4to (31x24cm), staple-bound with illustrated paper wrappers. 138pp. Text in French. Wrappers with mild handling wear. Mild overall toning to pages. Internally clean and unmarked. Very good.
This issue of Marie France Magazine features a relatively unknown 16-page photo essay by Agnès Varda, on the legend of Don Quichotte and the places that belong to his story.
The photo essay was created two years after Varda's debut film, La Pointe Courte, in collaboration with Michel Random and Guy Bechtel. They embarked on a quest to uncover the truth behind Don Quichotte's tale and, as the article highlights, stumbled upon "one of the most extraordinary love stories". Their journey took them to Toboso, the tavern where Don Quijote and to the iconic windmills. A real treat.
