Signed on the limitation bookplate #1872 with a handwritten inscription and second signature by the author.
Brown faux leather binding; No Flaws or Blemishes but minimal shelf handling and aging on the page after the signatures; Still Gift Quality. 1.5 inches tall; 225 pages black & white and sepia-tone captioned photos. Founded in 1835, Aiken was named after William Aiken, the president of the South Carolina Railroad. It became part of Aiken County when the county was formed in 1871. In the late 19th century, Aiken gained fame as a wintering spot for wealthy people from the Northeast. Thomas Hitchcock, Sr. and William C. Whitney established the Aiken Winter Colony.
