"Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you." Mathew vii. 7

This is an INCREDIBLE book... There is nothing I could compare it to. Although it may appear to be an old book discussing Freemasonry, it goes far deeper than just the secretive society itself... It discusses The Zodiac, Ancient Mythology, Immortality of the soul, and a multitude of subjects that fall under the esoteric category. A real publisher stamped 1870 edition printed and bound in New York. They don't make books this good anymore, and I don't think they ever will. This isn't only a fascinating and beautiful book, but it's also very historically important. I would snag this one before it's gone...

The condition of his book is good, considering it was printed over 150 years ago. It does show age, shelf wear, and reading use. The covers have some rubbing, little spots, and normal aging. The binding is solid and tight, with all pages holding very well. The interior pages have been very well-kept and still have a shine to them after all these years. There is no question that this is an ancient book. However, It has been well-preserved.

Albert Gallatin Mackey (March 12, 1807 – June 20, 1881) was an American medical doctor and author. He is best known for his books and articles about freemasonry, particularly the Masonic Landmarks. In 1844 he abandoned the practice of medicine. For the rest of his life, he wrote on a variety of subjects but specialized in the study of several languages, the Middle Ages, and Freemasonry. After being connected with several Charleston journals, he established 1849 The Southern and Western Masonic Miscellany, a weekly magazine. He maintained it for three years, mostly at his own expense. In addition, he conducted a Quarterly 1858-1860, which he devoted to the same interests.

He acquired the Greek, Latin, Hebrew, and continental languages almost unaided, and frequently lectured on the intellectual and moral development of the Middle Ages. Subsequently, he turned his attention exclusively to the investigation of abstruse symbolism, and to cabalistic and Talmudic research.

Mackey was the Master of Solomon's Lodge No.1 in 1843. He served as Grand Lecturer and Grand Secretary of The Grand Lodge of South Carolina and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States.
