About This Item
London: Rider & Company, 1935. First edition. Hardcover. fine/very good. Presumed first printing (no statements). Hardcover in royal blue cloth with spine lettered in gilt. Signed and dated 16th day of Feb, 1935 by the author on the front free endpaper. 253 pp. Generally fine, bit of offseting to the endpapers. In the orignal printed dust wrapper, very good with some wear at the extremities and shallow separation at the corner folds. Plimpton here offers transcriptions of alleged psychic conversations with her deceased father and some of his familars ( a "Burmese" named Youvanni and an "Arab") involved with Eastern (i.e. Asian) philosophy and religion. In 1931, she contacted Eileen Garrett, an internationally known medium and arranged for a series of sittings. After the fifth sitting, she began recording the sessions with a dictaphone and also has a stenographer present.
