Rubbing to the dustwrapper edges and dustwrapper panels and slight grubbiness to the fold over panels. A novel of mid 19th century China, the waning of the Manchu dynasty and of the encroaching involvement of the West – British, French and American traders. It is set in the years between 1854-1875.
