Saunders and Otley, London., 1838. 2nd. Ed.. pp.xvi, 240 with fine hand-coloured frontis., illustrated title page, 40 wood engravings in text and 4 pages of publishers adverts. 8vo. Hardback. Contents in fine condition. Original yellow end-papers. In original green cloth boards, with gilt illus., showing some wear to outer casing at spine ends, a little darkened on spine o/w. vg. With small bookplate reading 'Duplicate - ex collection of John Hewitt, Bee Master, Sheffield, Eng.' to front paste-down. (Harding 222). The frontispiece depicts 'splendid [hand] coloured drawings of queen, worker and drone, 'magnified' and also life size' (Harding).
