VERY RARE FIRST EDITION , (ONLY PRINTING -- later Pirated by Donohue!) MOTHER GOOSE NOVELTY / TRANSFORMATION BOOK, Published by G. W. DILLINGHAM, 1908. in RED CLOTH with Front Paste-on of the Wizard !
ILLUSTRATED with 18 (total 36) Transformation Panels, ALL IN BRILLIANT COLORS, with 18 More Full Page Color Illustrated story pages.
These are the most Classic of Mother Goose's Tales & Rhymes, Illustrated by the Noted Artist ROBERT H. PORTEOUS. He most Certainly was influenced by W.W. DENSLOW, in both the use of Strong deep background Color and his unique Children's characterizations done in the Wizard of OZ, and his later work in Billy Bounce, the Pearl & the Pumpkin, the Jeweled Toad and the Teddy Bear's Christmas. Check them out for the uncanny similarities!
That said, Porteus created a Unique and Compelling work here. It is In tact, with strong heavy sown binder. All Panels are COMPLETE & UN-DAMAGED; NO NAMES OR MARKS other than a faint inscription on blank ffep!~
